Job Description & Requirements
The candidates responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings & weld symbols
  • Knowledge of Tig, Stick, Flux Core, Spray Arc, Aluminum, and Code Welding.
  • Ability to adhere to AWS D1.1 and AWS D1.5 code.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces to be welded and/or fit.
  • Assemble and fit materials to be welded with temporary welds (tack welds).
  • Correctly set-up various welding machines (amperage, voltage, speed and pulse) maximizing their efficiency and effectiveness per applications.
  • Welds in various positions including vertical, horizontal and flat.
  • Perform supplemental welding operations including sawing, grinding, shearing, heating and straightening.
  • Performs welding operations to design and AWS Code specifications.
  • Use an oxy-fuel torch to remove material.
  • Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
  • Clamp, hold, tack weld, heat bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Locate reference points, centers and critical points on a material from an engineering drawing.
  • Uses fixtures and jigs to align and secure material components.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to design specifications.
  • Uses measuring tools; such as tape measures and calipers to verify dimensions.
  • Detects faulty operation of equipment or defective material and notifies supervisor.
  • Monitor the fitting, burning and welding process to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of material.
  • Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes.
  • Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits.
  • Work with other employees well and be a team player.
  • DOT experience preferred
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Able to lift materials/equipment weighing up to 50lbs

Job Requirements

  • Pass Welding Test.
  • Pass Fitting Test.
  • 5 years active weld fitting experience
  • Familiar with PennDOT and/or code welding requirements
  • Pass Drug Screen
